A link to an article in the Guardian about the amazing career and short life of artist Margaret Kilgallen. Her work has a wonderful gentle yet strong feel to them calmly assertive, with strong women doing everyday things. Her work reminds me very much of a feminist version of the Mexican muralists - art for the people and she was very much motivated working with her art in a community context. Unfortunately her tragic and untimely death from breast cancer took her from the art world and her young family too soon. But being the amazing woman that she was she worked up to the very end leaving behind a wonderful legacy of work that will hopefully empower and inspire generations of women.
